FAQs

I've already been to a chiropractor, what makes Arise different? Do I keep coming the rest of my life? So is it an adjustment or is it like a massage? If you're having questions like these, you're in the right place. Here are some FAQs we get all the time, so let's clear the air!

  • Since you're a cash practice, can I use my credit card? HSA? Insurance?
A "cash practice" simply means we are not in network with any insurance companies. We do take most major credit cards and Health Savings Accounts plans, but we can provide you a superbill to submit to your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits.
  • What conditions can you help with upper cervical care?
Due to the nature of the upper cervical spine, and its role in posture, bodily communication, and movement, upper cervical care affects a large number of conditions. By eliminating misalignment and restoring communication throughout the body, a large number of conditions frequently improve, including: - Migraines and Headaches - Neck pain - Vertigo, dizziness, and balance issues - Low back pain and sciatica - Radiating pain into the shoulders, hands, and arms - Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain syndromes - Neuralgias (Trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia etc.) - Restless leg syndrome - TMJ - Torticollis - Posture (Upper cross, lower cross, "text neck") - Etc. Upper cervical chiropractic is not meant to treat any of these conditions directly, even neck pain. Rather, it allows the body to heal through restored communication and the body's normal healing processes. This is why there are an incredible amount of POSITIVE side effects of this type of chiropractic. Schedule a free consultation with Dr. Zent to see if upper cervical may be able to help. The list is by no means exhaustive.
  • Do I have to keep going forever, or is it a "one-and-done"?
Here at Arise the focus is always on HOLDING the adjustment. You will often hear the phrase "holding is healing". This means that the goal is to get any and every adjustment delivered to stay in place for longer and longer periods of time to allow the body to heal. You will likely be adjusted multiple times in the early phases of care, and as your ligaments, joints and tendons heal, less and less as time goes on. This focus on HOLDING the adjustment is what allows results to carry on longer and longer with our patients, starting at 2-3x/week moving down to 2-3x/year. Just like our teeth need to be maintained a couple times a year, our spines need care too. The doctor will work with you to find the frequency that works best for your body.
  • What is the adjustment like? Does it hurt?
The adjustment used is extremely gentle, with the patient on their side. We adjust by hand with a cervical drop piece. There is no twisting, popping, or pulling. The amount of force is the same force used to squish a grape, about 1/10 of a "twist-and-crack" adjustment. The adjustment is very fast, and some patients are a little startled the first time, but it does not hurt. Patients are frequently amazed that their symptoms have changed drastically with such a gentle adjustment. Pops and cracks do not equate to efficacy.
  • How much does care cost?
We offer several different payment options in our office, and care plans vary depending on the patient and their situations, and will vary depending on the doctor's recommendations. The following costs are our average charge for our most common services. Initial consultation - FREE. This meeting is designed to find out if this is the right type of care for you, or should you need another course of care. Discuss your case with the doctor and decide together the best options for your particular case Initial Examination - New and Inactive patients: $150 Office Visit - $100 Plan of Care - VARIES. This is dependent on a multitude of factors, and must be discussed with your doctor to fit your case. The average care plan is around 12 visits, over a 3 months period, with maintenance 2-3x/year. This can vary depending on the severity, age, and personal circumstance, and is typically far lower than the average chiropractor, which can be upwards of 40 visits in a year.
